Guilmi Art Project
Last week I took part in a special event in Guilmi, a small mountaintop village in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Here, Lucia Giardino and Federico Bacci have created a unique artist-in-residence program that successfully merges artist and village. This year's resident was Nicola Toffolini, an artist who often works site-specifically within the landscape, as he did here. He based his three installations in Guilmi on Joseph Beuys' Abruzzo project from 30 years ago.
